Robert M. Tobin (1945 – 2023)

The class has learned of Bob's death on March 25, 2023 at the age of 78.

Bob came to Princeton from Irvington, NJ HS. An EE major and Dial Lodge member, Bob proceeded to graduate school and a PhD at UCLA in EE in 1976. He then changed careers and received his M.D. at the University of Miami in 1979 and became an anesthesiologist. At the time of the 25th and 50th reunions, Bob was living in Redondo Beach, CA, first as Chief of Anesthesiology at Buena Park Doctors Hospital and then at Zynx Heath, Inc. At the time of the 55th, Bob was back in New Jersey, living in Englishtown. By the time of the 50th, his email was "joizyboy@verizon.net" indicating, perhaps, that Bob never forgot his New Jersey roots.

Classmate Tributes

Barry Steinberg: Four of us--Bob, Mike Gillespie, Bob Harsh and myself--were thrown together freshman year in a walk-up on the fourth floor of Brown Hall. We had divergent interests and sensibilities, but we got along well, with a lot of kidding back and forth and lengthy bull sessions arguing politics and religion. Bob was in engineering, the rest of us, liberal arts. I remember him as good-natured and hard working. We each found new roommates for sophomore year. After that, we would bump into each other occasionally on campus, but lost touch with each other after graduation. From our website I have seen that he eventually left engineering and became an anesthesiologist.
